Holidays in the Hérault

This department in the south of France, bordered by the Mediterranean, will seduce you with its many facets, whether cultural, sporting, heritage or historical, all of which will inspire you to discover them at your own pace and according to your own desires.

Close to Vias PlageYou can also take a stroll around the historic town of Béziers, with its Cathedral of Saint-Nazaire and its Pont Vieux, a listed engineering structure.

But many other towns with dazzling heritage await you throughout your stay: Pézenas, the town of Molière, just a few kilometres from Vias, as well as Sete, the town of Brassens, and even Montpellier, the town of Rabelais.

If you prefer hiking, there are many listed sites throughout the department: From the Cirque de Navacelles with its breathtaking cliffs, to the red earth of the Lac du Salagou, not forgetting the Canal du Midi, you'll need to be well equipped to take in the sights.

You'll also discover our winegrowers and their terroir, and the wineries and cooperative cellars that open their doors to you. You can even become a grape-picker for a day and sample (in moderation) these delicious nectars on a walk with Les oenorandos de l'Hérault.

Because our département lies between land and sea, you can enjoy long walks on the white sandy beaches of Vias Plage La Grande Motte, as well as Valras, Cap d'Agde and many other attractive seaside resorts.

And if you want to sample the products of our beautiful Mediterranean, stop off to taste the Bouzigues oysters at the Bassin de Thau, where you'll also find sea bream, squid, sardines and other local red mullet.
